UniQueNT Product Description

UniQueNT was designed and developed by LBM Systems. It provides the fundamental print spooling functions lacking in Windows NT and includes Java single screen - server strength system administrator tools (Print Queuing Controls and Printer Diagnostics) for LAN & Remote Sites. UniQueNT brings mini-computer (AS/400, VAX and Wang) print queue and spooling functions to the Windows NT enterprise system environment.

Centralized printing is one of the most difficult administrative tasks in a windows NT environment, when print requests originate from multiple sources (minicomputer print requests, desktop print jobs, and network printing). Windows NT provides no way for obtaining a global view of the printing process, controlling print jobs, scheduling printers, or redirecting print jobs from one printer to another.

UniQueNT runs as a Windows NT service and is stopped and started from the NT Services window. Designed as a true client/server application, the UniQue Print Service receives information about print requests over the network and provides client machines with access to the print queue over the network.

UniQueNT Features and Benefits include:

  • A global view of all print jobs currently active is available.

  • Print requests can be moved from one printer to another.

  • Scheduling of printing by priority, load, and class of printer is available.

  • Print requests can be stopped, started, restarted at a given page, and requeued for later printing.

  • Control over paper stock, allowing jobs requiring special paper to be grouped and printed when that paper is mounted on the printer.

  • Access to the status of all printers (paper out conditions, network problems, etc.)

  • The ability to control access to printers (disable printer, re-route jobs to printers, etc.)

  • The ability to reconfigure printers on-line.

  • Access to all administrative printing functions over the Internet.
